JOB SUMMARY
This position will participate in and lead the design activity for RF front-end receivers or transmitters products in both Sub 6GHz and mm-Wave massive MIMO 5G Wireless Infrastructure applications. Product line includes all RF blocks including high performance, low cost, high volume multi-throw RF switches, LNAs, Amplifiers, transceivers, and Multi-Chip Modules.
This position will direct the development of products during the entire product life cycle from product definition through product release to end-of-life. As part of a cross-functional product development team the senior staff engineer will support other essential disciplines including marketing and applications, project management, characterization, production, and test engineering.
The Senior Staff Engineer is expected to successfully complete product development with little to no oversight and be proactive in identifying and resolving potential product issues. They’ll also be a lead to the team and have direct reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
- Product Definition: Assist Marketing in defining new products through feasibility studies and technical competitive analyses
- Product Design and Evaluation: Schematic Capture, IC layout, Simulation, Package Analysis, Evaluation Board Design, Design Validation, and mentoring junior engineers
- Product Documentation: Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel design techniques and provide guidance on product usage
- Product Characterization: Work with Characterization and Test Engineers to define, conduct and analyse data from product performance characterization
- Production ATE Development: Work with Test Engineers to define, develop and ramp production ATE solutions
- Product Support: Work with Applications, Product, Test and Manufacturing Engineers to help answer customer questions, assess field failures, support yield improvements, etc.
- Technology Development: work with Technologists to define the technology roadmap, addressing the performance and functional requirements of the product roadmap
- Team leadership: provide technical mentoring to junior design team members; help design manager with resource planning and cross functional team efforts
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent degree); MSEE or PhD preferred
- 3 years relevant experience with PHD, 8 years with Masters or 12 years with a Bachelors
- Strong leadership qualities
- RF IC design – switches, LNAs, PAs, VCO, Mixers in RF and mm-Wave range
- Analog IC design ? bandgap voltage references, low-drop out voltage regulators, operational amplifiers etc.
- Knowledge of IC fabrication and how this impacts circuit performance
- Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
- Software tools: Cadence, ADS, HFSS, Momentum, and MATLAB
