Senior Applications Engineer
San Diego, California

OVERVIEW

We are looking for a person with a desire to lead a small team, in the San Diego area, working on test solution development for the latest wireless communication technologies such as WiFi, 5G and UWB. Our Client is a leading Wireless Test Company working with the biggest names in consumer electronics and semiconductors to ensure wireless communications work their best and live up to consumer’s expectations.

The technical support site manager will be responsible to manage our San Diego office and a small team of engineers responsible for developing and supporting wireless test solutions.  This role will require a range of skills and experience including technical wireless knowledge, programming skill, customer management, technical program management, and human resources supervisory capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

• As an active contributor, manage the Client’s San Diego technical team to ensure key deliverables are completed per commitments
• Foster a technical / business relationship with key customers in the San Diego area. Work closely with corporate global account managers to achieve corporate sales objectives.
• Direct management of a small team of engineers handling all human resource related functions for the team
• Site management tasks working with corporate facilities teams and local companies for any real estate / facilities and infrastructure needs

BASIC QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience in a field applications management role, or technical business development role
  • Strong troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills
• Must be US citizen or Lawful permanent resident (LPR)
• Strong technical knowledge in RF/Wireless technology, measurement methods and software programming. Experience working with automated test programs and scripts in C/ C++ and Python. Knowledge of the RF PHY requirements for the wireless communications standards such as:
  • 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (WLAN)
  • Cellular 2G/3G/4G/5G
• Must work on-site in our San Diego office and have a reasonably short commute to the site. 
• Frequent travel to local customers required, some air travel is required (typically <10% annually)
