Product Engineering Manager

OVERVIEW


This position will oversee and provide leadership to a small team of junior and senior level Product Engineers. Responsibilities will include managing career development of team members, setting individual goals and providing feedback on performance. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for organizing the team to successfully complete assigned projects which will include planning product engineering support for new products, supporting sustaining activities for products in production and presenting project updates in manger level project reviews. The person in this role will be making decisions that allow for the highest quality products while staying aligned with corporate strategies. There will be times when the candidate will be expected to be hands-on with their team to solve difficult problems in order to keep projects on track.

This position is responsible for product from development kick-off, through production, until end of life. The position will be responsible for ensuring successful characterization of new products, defining production test plans and launching new products into high volume production. Responsibilities include yield enhancement, analysis of RMA customer returns, and Change control during production. This position will interface with Design, Test, Manufacturing, Reliability, Applications, Foundry and Marketing groups to identify opportunities, drive projects to completion, and verify effectiveness. This role will represent their team in periodic project reviews.

The assigned tasks will be diverse in nature which requires exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail. The candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of commitment and be flexible to project needs. The candidate must be a team player and possess a sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
  • Optimize team performance by motivating team by example, influence, training and structure
  • Manage the career development of team members
  • Helps recruit, select, and train new employees
  • Assign and prioritize tasks for team members such that overall project plans can be supported
  • Incorporate corporate strategies and technical data when making decisions that impact new products or projects
  • Represent team with presentations in manager level project reviews
  • Support efforts for continuous improvement of processes followed by the Product Engineering team
  • Own Product Engineering responsibilities for both new products and products in production which are assigned to the team.
  • Review results and reports provided by team, provide constructive feedback
  • Responsible for following processes & procedures relating to new product development
  • Ensure all new products meet required performance targets and metrics
  • Participate as a hands-on contributor for projects that are assigned to the team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Engineering or Similar
  • Experience with any of the following products: LNA, Switch, Digital Attenuators, Phase Shifters, or other RF related products
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
  • Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
  • Background with software such as Datapower, JMP, Cadence, Matlab
  • Background working with large datasets and applying statistical methods to draw conclusions
  • Ability to teach technical concepts to team
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Ability to clearly assess and manage risk
