OVERVIEW
Our client in Irvine, CA, is a fabless semiconductor company focused on developing innovative Analog and RF components necessary for simplifying the design of next generation wireless products. With antennas, beamformers, and other Analog/RF ICs, they are driving to become the premier supplier for 5G, True5GTM millimeter wave, and all future wireless devices. This is an exciting time to join a start-up company, chaired by one of the biggest names in the Semiconductor industry who was the CEO for a well-known semiconductor company that sold for billions of dollars.

THE ROLE
The Principal Application Engineer will be working with engineering internal team and customers to implement antenna solution into sophisticated wireless module devices. Some expected tasks of the job entail performing antenna system level analysis, antenna and passive RF circuit design and test development. Consider joining a team focused on a broad spectrum of technology to meet the next 5G wireless generation. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of fundamental RF and 5G mmWave and sub 8GHz design and troubleshooting experience, excellent leadership, be a driven & committed team player, and have excellent communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
• 5G mmWave and sub 8GHz application design support for compliance to industry standards and customer production robustness
• Evaluation board/radio hardware design
• Verification and evaluation of products in development for compliance to device and system level requirements
• Writing of datasheet and application notes
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolution of device production issues
• Working with customers and internal teams to define device level requirements and perform system tradeoff analyses
• Working with quality team to support failure analysis.
• Frequent on-site supports are required to achieve successful design-wins.
• TX/RX performance optimization and understanding the trade-offs of TX and RX
• Knowledge and experience with SPI / MIPI interfaces

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Highly desirable to have experience in wireless handset application of TX/RX in 5G systems, RF PCB design, test and troubleshooting of RF circuits and beamformers, and RF systems analysis
• Experience in a customer-facing role. The candidate must have the necessary communication skills and experience to be able to interface effectively.
• Strong theoretical background in fundamental RF and systems design
